An IoT ecosystem consists of web-enabled smart devices that collect, send, and act on data collected from their environments using embedded systems such as processors, sensors, and communication hardware. By connecting to an IoT gateway or edge device, IoT devices can share the sensor data they collect. Data is either sent to the cloud for analysis or processed locally.
These devices occasionally communicate with one another and act on the information they receive. The devices do the majority of the work without human intervention, though people can interact with them to set them up, give them instructions, or access data.
